Take a leaf from a book

Learning from the book of nature.

Until today, I have always thought that this was the flower of the anthurium plant. Uniquely what appears as tiny bumps on the tail of the anthurium are its flowers, you will need a microscope or a magnifying glass to see them. Interestingly, this tropical anthurium plant, is also known as the flamingo flower or boy flower. The next time I visit my mother’s garden, I will be sure to take a closer look at the flowers.

What is the buzz?

There are hardly ever any bees buzzing around this plant and its flowers. On WordPress, there is a daily buzz that prompts bloggers to share their expressions on a central word or concept. Today’s prompt - Is the phone your lifeline, a buzzing nuisance, or something in between?

Call? Me? Maybe?

My phone is my lifeline in times when I need to reach out for help or when I need to help someone. A simple hello to show we care is often greatly appreciated and makes a big difference. Happy or sad, the buzz of the phone can jolt us back to life.

Sometime in the not too distant past, I thought the phone (and other electronic gadgets) was my lifeline and we were together every waking moment of every day. I have two phones, an iPod. I use WhatsApp and Skype. It was not until my Android phone started misbehaving that I could hear myself breathe. I was no longer connected to technology 24-7.

My phone can, at times, be a buzzing nuisance especially in the early hours of the morning when I trying to get just one more minute of sleep. I try not to put my phone on silent or vibrate because I know that I will not hear it for a day or two, and wonder where is my phone? I am really not tied to my phones as my friends and family well know. I do call them regular enough so that they know my number is still valid. My phone and I have an understanding. The lines of communication are always open.

What is my number?

What is my number?

Lesson

Never judge a book by its cover. We are all unique. When I am on the road, with a few minutes to spare, I love reading ebooks on my phone.

Learning. Looking. Loving. Living. Listening. Laughing.

Have a bright and beautiful day, today and always!
